Meet Artem Palmer or Palmer to his friends.

A genuinely unique artiste with his art, and sketches. From Seville, Spain soon to move to Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

His work captures the beauty of individuals with the intricate shapes and lines in his work. We came across Palmer’s work via Instagram and admired the work. His work is like a maestro and artisan with classical feeling with a post-modern twist.

With the pieces created we shared our favourites from his recent collection and asked him some questions so we get to know the man not just the artist.

What is your main influence in Music/Art/Films?

I like everything in general. For me, the quality of the work is more important than the discipline, the artist or the style.

For me MUSIC is the most important thing, it always goes with me and I love Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, for example, but I like all music from the 1920s to the present day.

Right now I’ve discovered a really cool good band who is Krhuangbin and I’m working with a guy from the UK who has inspired me a lot, Cam Cole.

Anyway, I listen to rock, classical, flamenco, rap, jazz, soul, funk, Latin music, trap, electronic or tribal music, whatever gives me good vibes.

About ART if I have to choose only one I have to say classical art. Leonardo Da Vinci might be my favourite.

About CINEMA I have to tell you that I studied video, cinema and photography, not art. So that’s the discipline I know the most. The best for me is Kubrick and I really like Tarantino and Guy Ritchie’s films. As for photography, I love Vivian Maier.

Where are you from?

I’m from Seville, the capital of Andalusia in the south of Spain.

Why do you create the art you do?

First of all, because I liked it but now I need it hehe and it’s a good way to find people from your planet.

What advice can you give to emerging artists?

I consider myself an emerging artist hehe but for me, the best advice is to do what you want and go out and look for your patrons. Don’t do the opposite.

Who are your 5 most inspiring artists?

Da Vinci, Hendrix, Kubrick, Maier and Velázquez. But Picasso and Goya can also be among these

What projects are you working on at the moment?

Next month I’m going to live in Barcelona. There I will be working with the Brava art gallery. Fortunately, I’m selling all my works little by little but I’m doing new things and Vero, the owner of the Brava gallery, understands me perfectly. We enjoy art very much together and we see art in a very similar way so I think we can do good things.

Also, I will continue to do my music video projects and album covers for other artists.

Artem is so exceptional as a creative whenever you look at his works you need to take another look and it takes you on another journey with each line drawn. The way he captures the essence of the human form without being banal. With that ingenuity, it reminded me of the famous Picasso quote “Good artists copy, Great artists steal” which we juxtaposed to “Good artists copy, artistic maestros have great originality and internal emotion”
